As promised, here are the pics of ‘Vishram by the Sea’, a beach house on the shores of The Bay of Bengal in Chennai. The house is designed by award winning interior designer Benny Kuriakose and Vishalakshi Ramaswamy (also a designer, and the owner of the house). The interiors are a tribute to fusion design – Mediterranean colors, local Attangudi tiles, a Kerala-style bathing pool, Indian artifacts and Vasthu shashtra, all come together in a beautiful blend.
The doors, windows and other fixtures are Vishalakshi’s personal collection, sourced from houses being demolished in her native Chettinad, and accumulated over the years. Everything about this house is special – free flowing open spaces, minimal decor and furniture, the blue and yellow combinations – my kind of holiday home for sure! Sitting here, one can easily forget the bustle and grind of city life and truly unwind, be one with nature and just live. Have a look.
Thanks Benny, for sharing the pictures.
