Lynda and Dhiraj

I met Lynda online and I am so amazed by the way people with similar interests can instantly connect on social media! Lynda and Dhiraj run a residential interior design firm in Canada. Lynda is an artist and Interior Decorator while Dhiraj is a Designer and Renovator.

Their passion for interiors is quite obvious from their home, where treasures have been carefully collected. In Lynda’s words, “Our home is an assortment of heritage pieces from our ancestors and furniture we picked up while living in Dubai, Bahrain and Canada. It is in a constant state of change.”

So grab a cup of your favorite brew, and join me as we tour their gorgeous home.

The front porch is a lovely, homey space. They built it one summer, and made the deck, bench and coffee table themselves. The vintage pieces include a telegraph that Dhiraj salvaged from his ship repair company. The ceramic stools are from Homesense.

The foyer is done up with turquoise blue on the walls and filigree decals with a Venetian mirror and other personal touches. The lamp was a thrift store find that Lynda spray painted coral and found a matching shade at Target. The dog bust was a flea market find and they named him Mr. Churchhill. 🙂

The living room have a mix of heirloom pieces like the altar box, teak cabinets and prie-dieu (the kneeler at the confession)

The other items are vintage like the Spider coffee table and lamps. Lynda just recently added Kilim cushion covers and absolutely loves how they pick out the reds in their Persian rug.

This pretty porcelain Ram skull is one of Linda’s favorite pieces and it acts as a pretty nest for her airplant.

The Prie-dieu (close-up below) is 100 years old and used to be in an Indian church. It was gifted to them by Dhiraj’s dad. It now holds a vintage Bible and pearl rosary.

The dining area, like the living room is an eclectic a mix of beautiful stuff. The beautiful hard wood table was bought in Dubai, while the vintage stained glass panes were rescued from their ancestral home in India. I am quite amazed that they managed that, as there have been so many instances where I have struggled to carry stuff from Mangalore to Pune!

The other vintage items like the radio houses a modern squeeze box and Linda’s growing collection of Italian wine bottles with the blue one taking pride of place on the dining table.

This is their bar on the Mid Century modern buffet housed in a hand made tray that Dhiraj built. The radio was refinished and the Filament bulb was made by him. Wow!

The Buddha statue was bought when they holidayed in Phuket and the graphite sketch is one of Linda’s. They love anything vintage, says Linda, and adds, “that’s why you will see things like the oversized lab beaker which acts as a vase sometimes or just a display piece.”

And, finally, here’s their ide yard which was a labor of love last summer. Built and styled by them, its where they spend every summer day with family and friends.
